giving blood on Halloween

A friend of a friend had a blood drive on Halloween and I just had to participate. First of all, who the heck has a blood drive at their house on Halloween of all days! and secondly, I'm almost embarrassed to admit this but I've never donated blood before. Well now I've donated blood and my one pint of blood is going to help three people so I'm thrilled to have participated.

To sweeten the deal even more the host, who will be known as Dr. Shocker, included a rare look at his personal Hollywood Horror movie memorabilia collection! He converted his three car garage into his own mini-museum of ghoulish collectibles! So fun!!

Did you know that the Providence Hospital in Burbank will come out to your home/church/business for a blood drive? You just need to have about 20 people sign up in advance and they'll do all the work. I'm giving serious thought to hosting a blood drive in February for Valentine's Day.

I was a little scared to donate blood with getting pricked with a needle and all, but it really wasn't a big deal at all. It hurt worse when they pricked my finger to check my iron levels than it did when they tapped into my veins for the blood donation.
