I adore Hugh Hefner! Really I do.

 Thank you Hugh Hefner for making my day by responding to my tweet to you.

He tweeted "I'm going to have my quarterly physical check up in a few minutes. Then Marston & I are going to play a few games of backgammon."

and I responded back to him - "@hughhefner your doctor does house calls?? Lucky you!" 

and then he wrote me back -  

It made my day!! and it reminded me that half of the fun of twitter is the personal exchanges you make with people you know and people you don't know. It's the perfect sound board for celebrities too - they can engage with fans in a way never possible before.  My niece totally flipped out when one of her celeb tween icons wrote her back, and I got a little dose of that feeling tonight.

Spiders in my car!!!!!

 I was attacked by hundreds of little white baby spiders in my car as I was driving home from work tonight. It was all I could do to keep calm and pull over and get out of traffic. I don't usually freak out over bugs, I'm not the girl that screams when I see a spider or anything like that - but these were micro small baby spiders and LOTS of them!

I immediately got out of the car and starting jumping up and down and brushing all the spiders off of me, screaming and cursing up a storm the whole time. I'm sure I was quite a sight. I did have one homeowner come out and putz around his yard, but really I think he was trying to figure out what the heck the crack head was doing on his block.

I called Q ... crying... "baby they were all over me (sniff, sniff, gasp for air) I'm so freaked out right now (sniff, sniff) I can't get back in the car (sniff, sniff) please come get me and bring bug spray!!" Q asks "Where are you" and I respond "I don't knoooooooooooow, (I'm sure I sound like a whiny little girl at this point but Q stays strong and calm for me) I just turned down a street but I don't know the name of it" (sniff, sniff)

Q found me and like a good knight in shining armour he brought weapons of mass destruction - bug spray! He bravely opened up the car, looked for those little buggers and sprayed away. Enough were killed that he could drive the car home and I followed in his car - ain't no way you could get me back in my Prius!


We went to Rite-Aid and picked up some of this -

Did you know that Raid kills spiders? I didn't know for sure but it says so on the label. My car is being bombed overnight and I think I'll just have Q drop me off at work tomorrow - then have the car detailed on Saturday to get rid of those residual chemicals.


I have a super short commute right now - I may switch to bike riding to work, as soon as I buy a bike!

New pool floats!

I'm tired of buying cheap pool floats that only last a season. We decided to upgrade to the "Ultimate Pool Float" from Frontgate - yes the Frontgate that you see in those airline Skymall catalogs. They were on sale AND I did a quick search on the internet and found a code to get free shipping. SCORE! So the floats ended up at $99 each - which I still think is pricey for a pool float - but if they last us a couple of summers they'll be worth it in the long run.

They're already a big hit with Day-Z, she was laying on one last night in the living room, but don't think for a minute that she'll get on one in the pool. LOL.

I can't wait for the weekend so we can put them to good use!

This was NOT fun!

I had to have a skin tag removed from a rather delicate area that involved me bending over this table. I think you can figure it out without me going into details.

I'm glad I got it taken care of but it had to be one of the least pleasant doctors appointments ever. I had to get a shot to numb the area first that just about made me pass out. But the skin tag is gone... and I hope I never have to go through that again.

What a way to start the week.

Finally a day to relax

I feel like I've been on the treadmill of life lately - but I'm taking time today to just spend a couple of hours floating around the pool, eat some strawberries and drink some sparkling mineral water from Italy.
